Birthday wishes

I wish I could see my loved ones (more). I wish I wouldn’t have to worry about them getting sick at work while we can’t see each other. I wish everyone had enough to live without having to work, period. I wish less people would wish me success and more would think about injustice. I wish for equality. I wish essential workers would be seen as essential permanently and get paid accordingly. I wish the protest of the seasonal workers flown into richer countries in Europe from poorer ones would be taken seriously and their working conditions would be changed because they are inhumane. I wish for reports about the virus without mentioning the economy as if it was the priority. I wish George Floyd wouldn’t have been killed and stressing #blacklivesmatter wasn’t necessary anymore. I wish the police wasn’t violent and racist and accepted with those traits. I wish Europe would stop acting like we got the right to decide who gets here safely and who doesn’t. I wish we would let refugees and homeless people live in the empty hotels. I wish the effort that was put in now to let people work from home would also be put into making work accessible for disabled people after the pandemic. I wish the idea that some people are less worthy than others would never cross anybodys mind. I wish for people seeing all this dysfunction in our system now to fight for human rights and not for going shopping without a mask. I wish everyone realized how much our privileges or the lack of them affects us. I wish for solidarity. I wish I wouldn’t feel like all of this won’t come true.
